Ben Dial started teaching 7th and 8th grade English at Malvern Junior High School in the 2011-2012 school year. Dial and the rest of the MJHS staff transitioned to the new Malvern Middle School building in the fall of 2012. The following year, Dial began teaching social studies in addition to English. During the 2014-2015 school year, he transitioned to teaching social studies full time, helping to lead and promote in the implementation of the Literacy Design Collaborative Model within the social studies department at MMS. In the summer of 2015, Malvern High School hired him to be assistant principal.
Ben met his future wife, then Kara Thomas, on a blind date (Dixie Cafe and roller skating in Hot Springs) when they were both sophomores in high school. Ben, a Leopard from Malvern, and Kara, a Go-Devil from Gurdon, have been side by side ever since. They attended Henderson State University together, both participating in Henderson's choral program. Later, they would move to Northwest Arkansas where they would both finish graduate programs at the University of Arkansas.
Ben and Kara Dial are the proud parents of three beautiful girls, Sarah, Annemarie, and Emma.
Away from school, Benjamin's variety of interests keep him busy. A true sports nut, the Leopards, Arkansas Razorbacks and Henderson State Reddies hold his strongest allegiances, however, the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Reds are also dear to his heart.
Benjamin is also an avid reader, favoring sports fiction and historical non-fiction books. His favorite book is Empire of Blue Water by Stephen Talty which chronicles the real-life exploits of the privateer legend, Captain Henry Morgan. His favorite fiction authors include Dean Koontz, James Patterson, Carl Dueker, Bill O’Reilly (historical selections, not political), and the sports-fiction selections from John Grisham.
Spending time with his family is how the vast majority of time away from school is spent. Eating out is a favorite pastime for him, and he and his family frequents restaurants in the Tri-Lake and Central Arkansas area.
